Party, person and principles

We often hear people express – ‘I vote for the man not the party’. This sounds like a noble thought which might leave the speaker feeling above the general populace. We see people voted into office with a party label attached. If we consider the purpose of allegiance to the tenets of a party it is that the candidate pledges to follow the principles expressed by the party. When they deviate from these principles they become DINO’S or RINO’S. It is very unfair for politicians to abandon his part’s principles only to align themselves with feel good positions. If I voted for a candidate and the candidate jumped ship from the principles pledged, I will feel the person is a liar.

Obama never lied that he would spread the wealth. He told the truth on that issue. He lied on many items such as: “Afghanistan was the correct war, or the AFCA will allow you to keep your policy and doctor, or I will balance the budget by the end of my first term”. If these are the principles of his party then all the Democrats should stand in front of him, and live with the pledges made. Myself, I would prefer a politician that promises no new taxes and does not violate the promise. Watch the pledges of this season as we see candidates for town councils, county and congress. Are they consistant with the principles of the party.
